China Deploys Robotic Snakes to Inspect Power Lines and Improve Grid Reliability
China Deploys Robotic Snakes to Inspect Power Lines China has introduced advanced robotic snakes designed to inspect power transmission lines and improve the reliability of the country's electrical grid. These innovative robots help engineers detect faults quickly while reducing the risks associated with manual inspections. The snake-like robots move directly along power cables using a flexible body that wraps around the lines. Equipped with high-definition cameras, thermal imaging sensors, and intelligent monitoring technology, they can detect damaged wires, worn components, loose connections, and abnormal temperatures before they become serious problems. According to reports, the robotic system has already inspected more than 130 kilometers (80 miles) of distribution lines, including routes located near airport no-fly zones where drones cannot operate safely. Unlike drones, these robots travel directly on power lines and can continue working in restricted areas. Some versions are al…
